Reasons to not exercise can all be overcome.
Consider the following reasons and possible solutions:
No time? Try shorter periods of activity spread throughout the day, such as three 10-minute walks.
Too tired? It's often lack of exercise that makes you tired. Exercise gives you energy. Try it.
No partner? It's more fun to exercise with a friend. If your regular exercise partner quits, find another one. Even better: Have more than one partner you can call.
Bad weather? Too hot, too cold, too wet, too windy. It never seems right for exercise. Many people exercise come rain or shine. Try a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. When heat and humidity are high, take precautions.
Too costly? You can't afford a mountain bike or fitness club membership. You panic at the price of a pair of good running shoes. It all costs money. But can you afford not to exercise? Try a low-cost option, such as walking.
Afraid of injury? If you have injured a muscle or joint in the past, this fear is natural, but don't let it stop you. Talk to your doctor about activities that won't be likely to cause a similar injury. Start slowly and learn the proper form for your activity. Becoming more active will actually protect you from many injuries by strengthening your bones, joints, and muscles and improving your balance.
